Tour 2010

Dear All,

I trust you have all had a pleasant winter, and haven’t missed cricket too much? Well the season is almost upon us, and I have some exciting news about Reed’s 2010 cricket tour, with the venue for this years shenanigans having been decided upon by the committee.

August bank holiday 2010 will see Reed CC’s famous touring party head North East to the land of  the Great North Run, Byker Grove, Ant n Dec, Alan Shearer, Cheryl Cole, one of the most annoying, over-rated sets of football fans in the world and a frankly ridiculous accent: Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

We will be heading north for another 3 night tour, taking in at least 2 games of cricket, with fixtures almost finalised.

We have also found what looks to be an excellent bargain for a hotel, working out at a mere £20 per night each….BUT YOU HAVE TO ACT NOW.

Unlike in previous years, we are asking people to book up their own rooms, paying the £60 each upfront. This means that your tour will be virtually paid for already, with only the cost of a tour shirt, and transport to come (usually no-more than £30/40 in total). THIS REQUIRES ACTION on your part, NOW. Please spread the word, and find someone you are willing to team up with to buy the hotel room (just £60 each for 3 nights!!).

I need firm commitments ASAP, as it takes a lot of time and effort to organise tour, and the sooner we have people committed and paid up, the sooner the details can be planned, meaning a better tour for all.

I need you to reply to ME, ASAP. Email, text, ring, carrier pigeon, come see me…any of these methods will suffice. Even if you are NOT coming, please let me know. We can also discuss payment methods if needs be. £60 is all you need to guarantee your place on this tour, and is all you will need to pay for probably 3 or 4 months!

I am also DELIGHTED to announce that we have a new member of the Tour Committee. Joining (Colonel) Chris Jackson, (Brigadier) Ben Bowles and (Marshall) Matt Bowles, is a great, great man… a leader amongst men, an inspiration, both in cricket and non cricketing terms, a morally upstanding and hugely well respected member of Reed CC….Mr Phil Frenay. Phil has very kindly organised our fixtures in Newcastle, and thus has been elevated from mere peasant like the rest of you, to a powerful, decision making, fine giving Fuhrer, just like me.

The dates are August bank holiday: Sunday 29th August - Wednesday 1st September, and the hotel is Travel Lodge, Newcastle Centre

All the best,

Matthew L Bowles
